RECIPE TO DEAL WITH CHANGE
Tracing
back to the history of mankind, one striking characteristic associated
with the progress of mankind is 'change'. Change is an internal part
of Man's existence. It's very aptly said, 'If there is one thing that
is constant it is change.'
Commonly, we are confronted with remarks, 'It's getting tougher',
'Things are changing at an unprecedented rate', 'Caught in the whirlwind
learning topsy-turvy". How correctly it is said, 'When the going gets
tough, the tough gets going.' This special recipe to deal with change,
if cooked in right proportion at right time will make you tougher
to deal with the tough.
The nine golden rules to deal with change:
1.Develop an early warning system, which warns you of change whether
gradual or sudden. So be alert.
2.Anticipate change even when things are going right. Remember a stitch
in time saves nine.
3.Always look at the opportunities that change brings along with it.
Remember opportunities are always under our feet, its only a question
of our attitude and approach whether half-full or half-empty glass.
4.Come out of your comfort zone. Routines are useful, but don't allow
them to enslave you. Stretch yourself out of comfort zone, free yourself
to deal with change.
5.Realise that fear of unknown is natural. Change brings with it fear
and insecurity. Feel the fear and keep moving.
6.Keep renewing yourself. In this changing world only those individuals
will survive who believe in 'Learn, Unlearn & Relearn. So keep upgrading,
acquiring new skills and competencies.
7.Surround yourself with people who are open to change. So spend time
with people who have a 'can-do', 'Impossible is possible' approach.
8.Respect yourself. Respecting oneself, having high self-esteem is
essential to keep the self confidence intact whether one succeed or
fail. Always remember mistakes are not stumbling stone but stepping-stones.
9.Never change your core values. In spite of all changes around you
what you will never change is your core values. Do not compromise
on them for any reason. Integrity is the costliest jewel that man
possesses.
To conclude, remember 'Life is like an Echo' we get back what we give.
Create & contribute something to the world that has given us so much.
Let us all make this changing world a better place to live in peace
and harmony. - By Mrs. Resham Bhambra Lecturer |
